THE LEGACY IN EVERY BITE

Dona Manis Cake Shop Katong

Dona Manis Cake Shop is a humble bakery nestled in Singapore's heritage district of Katong. Home of its original creation. The Singapore Banana Pie, and renown for its
heritage pastries, the little corner store was first established in the 1990s by Mrs Esther Kim Sim, who also founded one of Singapore’s first professional cooking and baking schools in the 1980s.

In the mid 1990s, Mrs Sim handed the shop over to her father, Mr Tan Tieow Teong — affectionately known as “Uncle Tan” — who ran it for over 30 years. Uncle Tan
managed the shop with quiet dedication and warmth.

His humble, hardworking nature and commitment to quality built deep loyalty among customers, who cherished both the treats and the man behind the counter.

Every pastry is handcrafted in sma l batches, preserving the heritage flavours that have made Dona Manis beloved for generations. This artisanal care ensures every bite tastes just like home.

With unwavering dedication and the gentle hands of family, alongside a committed team who stood with the bakery through the years, Dona Manis was built on a simple belief: good things take time, and the best bakes are made with care.

Today, Mrs Esther Kim Sim, her daughter, and a dedicated team continue the legacy, keeping the beloved bakery alive and sharing its timeless flavours with every new generation.
